Documents:
Making an international move is not an easy task. In order to assist you in the
process, we would like to provide you with as much information as possible. This
will give you an idea about what documents are required, what items are restricted,
and more. The best way to make your international move go smoothly is to be prepared.
You can ensure that you are prepared by having all necessary documents required
by the country you’re moving to. Customs will receive appropriate documentation,
passport copies & shipping documents prior to the arrival of your shipment.
A letter will be sent to you to advise you of any changes to the arrival date and
any delivery details.
People and places you need to notify before your move
Power of Attorney - When you execute a power of attorney, you designate a
person to act on your behalf in the country you are moving from. Be sure to leave
behind an up-to-date will, insurance policies and copies of legal documents you
are taking with you like birth certificates, bank drafts, letters of credit, and
social security documents and so on.
Insurance Agent – If in your destination country, your automobile and homeowners
insurance policies aren’t valid, take out a new policy. It is important to ask your
current insurance agent for references.

and businesses of your move. Remember that some publications you will not be able
to receive once you move to your destination country.

the continental-US, keep a record of all moving-related costs as some expenses might
be tax deductible if they are itemized properly on the IRS (Internal Revenue Service)
form.

Check-cashing privileges may be more readily obtained by using a bank with offices
at your origin and move destination. It is also an advantage to do this incase a
need arises for you to access your emergency funds.
Physician – Let your current physicians know of your plans to move and see
if they have any recommendations for counterparts in your destination country. If
your physician is unable to provide any recommendations, you can contact the consulate
or embassy of your destination country or you can contact the International Association
for Medical Assistance to travelers (IAMAT)
